Oriana has entered the world of the Below, and her first days there aren’t a great start. Ciel’s sister has returned from the dead, demons are vying to replace her in her position beside their High Lord, and a rest looks a long way off. She must learn how to navigate in this new realm, figure out who she can even remotely trust, and support Ciel as best as she can through the chaos that fills their lives. There are rumours of strange artifacts being held by some Others who are making plans to steal the Crown from Ciel.

They get drawn into affairs of the Above while they hunt for the truth behind these artifacts, an old enemy returns, and one of the Fates attempts to offer their allegiance. As emotional and physical dangers compound, Oriana is glad she survived her transformation back into one being. Even if she struggles with who she now is when compared to who she thinks she should be, her new strength and abilities are more than welcome. Especially when things escalate enough that Ciel must reveal what he is to the world at large.

Their story comes to its conclusion in this final book, as they fight off enemies old but new, would be deities and work to rewrite the world itself. All while holding on desperately to the hope they’ll get an ending they can live with.
